State of the Art to host “’Tis the Season” Art Show & Competition Dec. 2

State of the Art Shows is hosting its latest art show/competition, ‘Tis the Season, on Friday, December 2, at the MATCH art space in midtown Houston. State of the Art Shows is the area’s premier organization designed to showcase the best artists locally and nationally in a series of shows that enlighten, engage and entertain.

“We chose this theme because it is indeed a season of joy and spiritual fulfillment,” said Gretchen McDaniel, co-founder of State of the Art Shows. “It’s also a season of family reunions that may not be the most stress free, and it can’t be denied that winter brings the whole range of emotions to the forefront.” McDaniel and her partner, Vena Ashley, know that it’s this tension that brings out the best in artists’ talents, and by extension brings out the best in art.

“For this one day show, themed pieces will be judged for ‘Best in Show’ and ‘Media’s Choice’ awards,” Ashley said. “Artists who show will also be given ample space to display their non-themed pieces. There will be a variety of sizes and prices available to fit a wide range of budgets and holiday gift options.”

The show will feature 2D and 3D art formed in various media, from paintings to sculpture, from photography to installation art. Artists wishing to enter the show/competition have through November 18 to apply at McDaniel and Ashley both urge interested artists to act quickly, as the show is almost full.
